What are the court prices in Southborough?
Currently, the cost to play on a court at Pennington Recreation Ground per hour is £1.
From Monday 8th of April 2024, Pennington Recreation Ground Tennis Courts will increase to £4 per hour per court.

How are prices set?
Southborough Town Council sets all prices and reviews them annually. This fee was discussed at the Open Spaces & Environment Committee by Council Members in November 2023 and ratified later that month at Full Council.
Why have prices increased?
Southborough Town Council has worked in partnership with the LTA, who have funded resurfacing of the courts, repainting, installation of the new coded gate entry system and online booking facilities from beginning of 2023. We are very fortunate to have received this investment from LTA to improve our public tennis facilities. Since leisure is not a Local Authority statutory service, and future funding cannot be guaranteed, capital must be raised for ongoing maintenance and for the future upgrading/replacement of surfaces, nets, fences, and gates. Prices are set at a level that reflect good value whilst enabling the long-term sustainability of these much-valued public facilities. The courts at Pennington Recreation Grounds are due to be deep cleaned and repainted in the following months, and the courts will continue to be maintained on a rolling basis.
